Your line of sight while driving is very important, which is why all cars today are equipped with washer fluid nozzles and wipers! These small additions to cars prove to be imperative to driving, allowing them to increase visibility and give you a bit more coverage on the road (with headlight washers). But when the fluid gets low, many people are unsure of what to do and how to refill it. Below are a few quick tips on how to locate your washer fluid cover and how you can go about refilling it.

  1. Pop the hood and locate the cover. This is usually markers by something that looks similar to a parallelogram with a dotted line coming through the middle. Sometimes it’s even labeled ‘washer fluid only’ for ease.

  2. Make sure you grab the right fluid. For many cars, washer fluid is all the same, however in different climates, different fluids are needed. If you’re someone who lives in a colder area, make sure it can withstand a lower temperature and won’t damage the lines when it’s sitting stagnant in the winter.

  3. Locate the fill line and refill to that point. It’s important to not overfill your washer fluid in order to prevent any spilling from occurring while driving, or performing any type of maintenance. After you’ve filled it up, close the cap and latch your hood. Test that the nozzles are spraying properly and you’re done!

Should you have a larger issue with your wiper fluid system, there may be something else blocking the hoses, or something preventing it from shooting out as a whole. If this is the case, make sure you bring it somewhere that can effectively clean and replace any broken parts in order to keep our line of sight perfect on your next drives.
