The suspension in your car is something that, while even though you can’t readily see it from every angle, still works 24/7 to ensure you’re both comfortable and safe. But what many vehicle owners don’t know is that every once in awhile, that suspension does need changing and replacement. So, how does someone know that their suspension is due for a service? We’ve got a few things to look out for that might help you decide if it’s worth changing them out.

Ride Change

If you’re heading down the highway and notice that your ride hasn’t been feeling the same as it once was, you might be experiencing some sort of wear on your suspension. Too much travel might indicate that the shocks and struts have worn out, which is a common occurrence for vehicles with high mileage and old suspension. It might be worth it to get them looked at if this is the case!

Odd Car Noises

Believe it or not, there is more to your suspension than just the struts and shocks, so noises might be an indicator that something else is wearing out as well. Your sway bar, endlinks and more are all different components that eventually may need changing. Clunking noises over bumps and other odd sounds might be a telling sign that something might need to be looked at.

Diagnosing a noise in your car is sometimes comparable to finding a needle in a haystack. For this reason, it’s sometimes easier to leave the job to a professional who can likely figure out the issue quicker, and remedy it within the same time period. If this is something you think you’re in need of, bring it down to a reputable repair shop who can run you through everything going on, with professional and educated recommendations.
