With spring finally here, It’s time to start doing our annual Spring cleaning. Also, during this time of year, it’s important to consider getting a Spring tune-up for your vehicles. A tune-up can help to ensure that your vehicle runs smoothly and you have no issues with it at the worst possible moment Often times, simple breakdowns can be avoided by completing a simple, small-step inspection process.
What Happens During a Tune Up?
There are several different things that your car mechanic will do during a tune-up. Here are some of the things that will be included:
- Tire inspection. Your tires will be checked for any rough patches and leaks. Your lug nuts will be checked for tightness and your tires will be rotated and balanced if needed. Alignments may be needed as well during this process.
- Windshield wipers and fluid. Your windshield wipers will be replaced if bad and your windshield washer fluid will be filled.
- Battery. Over time your battery may become corroded. Your auto mechanic will clean your battery and check the date on it. If your battery is over five years old, your mechanic will recommend a replacement.
- Transmission. Your transmission will be inspected, and fluids will be changed.
- Oil. Your oil will be changed and replaced if needed.
- Filters. Any filters on your vehicle will be changed out for new ones.
- Hoses and belts. Over the years, hoses and belts will become worn and will need to be replaced.
- Brakes. Your mechanic will check your brake fluid and make sure that your brakes are in top working order. If your brake pads need to be replaced, that will happen at this visit. Rotors may also be a necessary change.
- Air conditioning. Your air conditioning will be inspected and if you need any freon, it will be added during this visit.
- Other repairs. Your mechanic will go over your vehicle well. If they suspect that you need any automotive repair, they will let you know.
