Heading out on a road trip during the summer can be a great experience for friends and family, no matter where you’re headed. The open road and wind in your hair is one of the top feelings when the weather gets warm. However what isn’t so fun, is the issue of a broken down car on the way. Most of the time, vehicle problems tend to happen at the worst moments, and on vacation is one of those times. In order to combat the possibility of having your trip ruined, have these items ready in your car for easy access.
Tire Replacement Tools
Sure, most cars come with a spare tire and a small tire iron for easy replacement — but they’re less than very safe. Instead of relying on something this small, grab a low profile jack and leave it in the trunk. Additionally, grab yourself a jack stand for extra safety. To make sure that the car doesn’t move, this is an imperative tool to have at the ready.
Fluids
There’s no harm in keeping a bit of fluid in the car as well. You never know when something might go wrong, and having those little items might be the difference in an expensive tow, or just enough to get to the shop. Coolant, a quart of oil and washer fluid are just some basic examples of things that can help your line of sight and engine health during an extended drive.
Replacement Bulbs
The last thing you need is for a headlight to go out on a night drive with the family in the car. As small of a difference as it might seem to make, having a headlight or taillight out can be very dangerous, even leading to a ticket! In order to prevent that from happening, make sure to keep the necessary bulbs in the glove box for easy access and changing.
