As a driver on the road, there are a number of things that can happen once you’re behind the wheel. Including distractions both inside and outside of the car, reckless drivers, and factors such as the weather and road conditions, accidents are bound to happen at some point or another. While damage to you, your passengers, or your car is less than favorable, things can happen out of the blue, and are oftentimes out of your control. With that said, it’s important to remember that you should keep a few key items in your car — especially in the summertime! Below are a few necessities to consider.
- Water: It’s hot during the summer, and it’s going to be hot for the next few months! Keeping water in your car in the event you’re stranded is a great way to be safe, hydrated and ready for an issue. Additionally, this may help you cool down an overheated car in a punch
- Flares or Triangles: In the event you find yourself in an accident or stranded, letting other motorists and drivers on the road know that there’s a hazard ahead is a great way to prevent another one from happening.
- A Safety Tool. Available for a few dollars is a tool that can help cut a seatbelt, break glass windows, and get you out of a situation in which you’re unable to move as much. This can be a life-saving tool if you’re in an accident and partially immobile.
- Tire Foam: A flat tire is the last thing you need, and while it’s not recommended to drive for long, tire foam can help by keeping whatever air is left in your tire available to drive on until you reach a tire shop nearby. This keeps you on the road and safer than waiting on the shoulder for a tow (in some situations)
- First Aid: No matter the issue, a small first aid kit can ALWAYS come in handy when you need it, even if it’s something small. Like we mentioned, accidents happen whether you want them to or not, and it’s important to make sure you’re prepared for anything that comes your way.
