Rolling the windows down during the summer is almost a given, unless the air conditioning is on! But the feeling of the air blowing past your face on a long weekend drive to the beach is often unsurpassed, which is why many tend to grab fresh air while they’re doing so. But pushing the button (or cranking your window down) can sometimes cause a squeaking sound from inside the door, which can be less than pleasing to listen to. So, why does this happen and what can you do to stop it? We’ve got a few ideas for you below.

Lubrication

Every once in a while, your window needs a bit of lubrication to keep the motors moving everything as it should — and this might be one of those cases! Grab a safe lubricant spray and spray a bit into the area in which you hear the noises coming from. This is the easiest way to test something without taking the entire door panel off, which will require more work.

Remove Paneling

Another way to diagnose the issue is by removing the door panel and taking a look into the inner workings of the door for any discrepancies. It’s here you’ll be able to see if the window is off-track, if something is in the way, or if there’s an entirely different issue to deal with. While this might not be something you will always be able to fix, there are cases in which the problem is very simply fixed and the squeak goes away!

If you’re still having issues with your windows squeaking, it might be time to have the entire assembly looked at and fixed, if necessary! Always remember, when you’re bringing your
