What You Need to Know About Emissions Testing in CT

• When do you test? Our certified technicians conduct emissions tests between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.
• Do you do VIN verifications? VIN verifications are required for vehicles previously registered in another state. If your car is four (4) model years old or older, then it will need an emissions test to be registered. If an emissions test is required for your vehicle, do not request or obtain a VIN verification; this will be completed when your vehicle is emissions tested. • What if my car fails? If your vehicle failed the emissions test, then it is exceeding the allowable emissions standards for the year it was manufactured. Vehicles that fail need to be repaired and retested within 60 calendar days from the date of the initial test. Click here for information on failing the Connecticut Emissions Test. Southport Automotive and W. Jennings Co., are authorized repair shops for any repair that may be necessary. We will gladly give you an estimate.
• What if I am out of state when my test is due? For those who may be out of town when your test date arrives, you may file for a one-time extension. Click here for more information.
